Title of Project:
X-ray Scatter Correction for Breast CT

Aims of Project:

  • Determine x-ray scatter properties using advanced mathematical “Monte Carlo” computer simulations
  • Determine optimal dimensions for a focused collimator, optimal kVp and optimal air-gap
  • Validate the computer simulations through experimental studies
  • Develop and implement x-ray scatter correction methods to minimize the effects of scatter
  • Evaluate the effect of scatter correction methods on contrast, noise and spatial resolution
