The Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons developed The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers in 2005 to identify and recognize breast centers in the United States. NAPBC is a consortium of national, professional organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and monitoring of outcomes of patients with diseases of the breast. This mission is pursued through standard-setting, scientific validation, and patient and professional education.
Accreditation by the NAPBC is granted only to those centers that are voluntarily committed to providing the best possible care to patients with diseases of the breast. Each breast center must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with NAPBC Standards. To maintain accreditation, centers must monitor compliance with NAPBC Standards to ensure quality care, and undergo an on-site review every three years.
The following facilities in Georgia are currently NAPBC Accredited centers. (Other centers may be undergoing evaluation.) Click here for the most updated list: http://www.accreditedbreastcenters.org/resources/southeast.html
